Privacy policy

MzansiSpins is a static comparison site — we collect very little. This page explains exactly what, why, on what legal basis, and what rights you have over it under South African law.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to mzansispins.com only. It does not cover the privacy practices of Pantherbet, 10bet, Hollywoodbets or any other operator you reach via a link from this site — each of those has its own privacy policy, and once you leave mzansispins.com, theirs applies instead of ours. We'd encourage you to actually read an operator's privacy policy before registering, since gambling operators typically collect significantly more personal information than we do here, including identity documents for FICA purposes.

Information we collect

We don't operate user accounts, so there's no registration data, password, or profile to store. The information we do collect falls into two categories:

If you email us via our contact page, we hold whatever you send us — your email address and message content — for as long as is reasonably necessary to resolve your query, generally no more than 12 months unless it relates to an ongoing correction or partnership discussion.

The legal basis for processing your information

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), any processing of personal information needs a lawful basis. Ours breaks down simply: analytics data is processed under legitimate interest — understanding how a small independent site is used so we can improve it, weighed against the minimal, largely anonymised nature of what's collected. Affiliate click tracking is processed as a necessary part of operating the referral relationship that funds the site, disclosed in full on our advertising disclosure page. Email correspondence is processed with your implied consent the moment you choose to contact us, for the sole purpose of responding to you.

Cookies

This site may use a small number of cookies for analytics and to support affiliate link tracking. None of these cookies are used to build an advertising profile of you for third-party marketing, and we don't run retargeting campaigns based on your visit.

You can block or clear cookies at any time through your browser settings; doing so won't prevent you from reading any content on this site, though affiliate attribution (which only affects whether we get credited, not anything about your experience) may stop working correctly.

Third-party links

Nearly every casino name on this site links out to that operator's own website. We vet those operators for our rating methodology, but we don't control their sites, their data practices, or their terms. Read the privacy policy on any operator's own site before creating an account there — in particular, note that FICA verification requires submitting identity documents directly to the operator, never to us.

Cross-border data transfers

Some of the third-party services we rely on for analytics may process data on servers located outside South Africa. Where this happens, POPIA requires that the receiving jurisdiction have comparable data protection safeguards, or that appropriate contractual protections are in place. Given how minimal and largely anonymised the data involved is, this is a low-risk area of our operation, but we mention it here for completeness and transparency rather than leaving it unaddressed simply because the volume of data is small.

We periodically review which third-party tools we use for analytics and affiliate tracking, and we favour providers with clear, published data protection commitments over ones without. If we ever add a new third-party tool that materially changes how or where your data is processed, we'll update this policy and the "Updated" date above to reflect it.

Your rights under POPIA

South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act gives you a set of concrete rights over any personal information a site holds about you.

1

Right to know

Ask what personal information, if any, we hold that's associated with you.

2

Right to correction

Ask us to correct information that's inaccurate or out of date.

3

Right to deletion

Ask us to delete information we hold, such as past email correspondence.

4

Right to object

Object to a specific type of processing, such as analytics tracking, at any time.

Because we don't operate accounts and hold minimal personal data, most of these requests will return very little — but if you want to know what analytics data may be associated with your visits, or want correspondence cleared, contact us via our contact page and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 30 days as POPIA contemplates for such requests.

Data retention & security

Aggregated analytics data is retained only as long as it's useful for understanding site performance and is not sold or shared with third parties beyond the analytics and affiliate tracking providers necessary to operate the site. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we hold, in line with POPIA's security safeguard requirements, including restricting access to correspondence to the small team that needs it to respond.

Do Not Track signals

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There's no single agreed-upon standard for how sites should respond to this signal yet, so we don't currently change our behaviour based on it specifically — but you can achieve the same practical outcome by blocking cookies directly in your browser settings, which we do respect.

Children's privacy

MzansiSpins does not knowingly collect information from, or direct content toward, anyone under 18. This site exists to compare products that are themselves restricted to adults — see our responsible gambling page for more on our approach to age-restricted content, and our terms of use for the eligibility rules that apply to using this site at all.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or applicable law changes. Material changes will update the "Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell my data to third parties?

No. We don't sell personal information to anyone, including the casino operators we review. The only data that reaches an operator is the fact that a click on our affiliate link led to their site, which is standard for how affiliate marketing works.

Do you use Google Analytics or a similar tool?

We may use a standard web analytics tool to understand aggregate traffic patterns. Any such tool is configured to minimise the personal information collected, consistent with the cookie table above.

How do I opt out of tracking on this site?

Block or clear cookies in your browser settings, or use a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts. This won't affect your ability to read anything on the site.

What happens to my data if I click through to a casino and sign up?

From that point, the operator's own privacy policy governs your data — we only know that a referral occurred, not any details about your account, deposits or activity there.

Do you share information with the National Gambling Board or provincial regulators?

We're not a licensed gambling operator, so we have no regulatory reporting relationship with any gambling board. We'd only ever disclose information in response to a valid legal request under South African law, not on a routine or voluntary basis.
